Fly Fishing

Fly fishing nelson

Fly fishing in New Zealand is defined by sight fishing. In many rivers, anglers can spot trout before making a cast, turning each encounter into a careful exercise in observation, patience and precision.

Reaching these waters is often part of the adventure. Access may involve a helicopter flight into remote backcountry, a four-wheel-drive journey through high-country stations, or a walk along pristine river valleys where the only sounds are flowing water and native birdsong.

While the fishing is what brings people here, it is often the setting, the solitude and the experience of being immersed in some of the world's most remarkable landscapes that stay with them long after the trip has ended.
